Lexus ES350: The unmistakable elegance of a true Lexus.

According to Lexus, this vehicle is designed and engineered with a deep understanding of the user. Lexus research into user preferences has moulded every corner, every contour of this vehicle. “When the ES350 replaced the older ES300, these research findings led us to integrate thoughtful features and refinements that would ultimately please the end user. And the vehicle’s subsequent success has proven that we were on the right track,” says a spokesperson for the brand.

The ES350 comes with a powerful 3.5 litre engine and redesigned engine mounts. The V6 engine dispatches 272 hp to the front wheels via a new six-speed transmission. The 0-to-60-mph time is an amazing 6.8 seconds, yet torque steer remains effectively muffled. Fuel economy also increases by 1 mpg (highway), to 21/30.

The best part of the ES is its remarkably serene freeway ride: this Lexus floats over undulations and ripples in the pavement that would have other luxury cars heaving and there's no vibration through the steering, seats or pedals. At high speeds, you hear very little wind noise and road noise too is very well-contained.

The ES just eats up the miles on long trips. It's quieter than its class competitors. Its smoothly-styled body turns lots of heads while simultaneously managing an excellent 0.28 coefficient of drag - contributing not only its impressive fuel economy but to the overall refinement as well.

Much of the credit for the car's "cruisability" has to go to the spacious, comfortably equipped cabin. It's not until you pull up beside other cars that you notice just how big the ES is: its seats are up almost at minivan height and the roofline is domed to create lots of headroom. The Lexus' ample wheelbase means there's lots of space to stretch out front and rear and the seats are as comfortable as you would expect from the brand - even on the base model, the front buckets have eight-way power adjustments as well as multiple levels of heating and ventilation.

The usual Lexus array of goodies is present: a fine-sounding stereo with iPod jack, a power tilt and telescoping steering wheel as well as the usual great swaths of wood-grain and leather. There are exquisite design details everywhere: the 3-D gauges are beautiful, and so are the wood panels and leather and fabric swabs. With this, Lexus has once again set the standard for luxury interiors.

An Impressive Array of Active safety Features like the VSC, which integrates Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), and the Brake Assist feature also find place in the ES350. VSC helps control loss of lateral traction while cornering on slippery or dry road surfaces, while EBD optimises braking pressure at each wheel to help minimize body dive or sway during hard braking and cornering – providing exceptional ride comfort.
