The impeccable credentials of Lexus LS 460 have luxuriously glided it to the top spot ...The “World Car of the Year 2007 ”, a bigger recognition to LS 460 which has already won the prestigious “2007 Japan Car of the Year”. So we once again witness the impressive phenomena of the world’s discerning motorists - jurors from 22 countries - standing up in salute to the grand chariot of the discerning. The standing ovation for LS 460 came after a meticulous selection process from an entry list of 28 formidable contenders from all Japanese, European and US luxury makes.

Lexus LS 460 shone because the WCOTY jurors considered the car to be “the embodiment of the Lexus brand's motto – the pursuit of perfection” and “classically luxurious, with modern execution, unquestioned quality and more than ample power”. Praise indeed. The jurors also praised the Lexus for including a novel automatic parking system and an 8-speed auto transmission, which helped it pip nearest rivals to claim first place.

The World Car of the Year Awards program initiated by, organized by, and conducted by automotive journalists from all over the world. It is administered by a non-profit association, under the guidance of a Steering Committee of distinguished automotive journalists from Asia, Europe, and North America. Volunteer jury of close to 50 distinguished automotive journalists, representing the world’s most significant automotive outlets. Further, the juries are appointed for one, two, or three year terms to provide continuity. It is required that the Jurors must conduct regular road-tests as part of their on-going professional work.

The World Car of the Year Awards were officially launched in September 2006 and a list of eligible vehicles was established. By September - January 2007 the Jurors completed evaluation of World Car eligible vehicles. Come January 5th and the First round of voting determined the Top Ten World Car and World Performance Car finalists. January 12th, the Top Ten World Car and World Performance Car finalists were announced. And by March 2007 took place the final round of voting on finalists to determine winners for World Car of the Year. By April 5, 2007and the winner was announced at New York International Auto Show during one of the press days.

Inside the LS460, Lexus has optimised everything, including the air, the sound, the lighting and general texture. Special attention has been given to the strong demand from customers for a long-body version of the LS460. The seats have been equipped with Ottoman leg rests, and built-in air massage function with eight air chambers. In other words, the LS460 can accommodate any requirement. If the rear seat occupants want to sit back and relax or get some work done, or if they want to enjoy some entertainment, they will find the LS460 just the perfect place to do so.

The Brand New LS460 represents a quantum leap in automotive technology, and rewrites every standard and norm in the luxury automotive world. With a whole spectrum of World Firsts – including the World’s First 8-speed Automatic Transmission, the World’s First VVT-iE engine, the World’s First Relaxation System, the World’s First Rear Seat Cushion Airbag, and a 19 speaker Premium Mark Levinson Audio System. The new LS460 is powered by an all-new highly advanced 4.6-liter V8 engine that produces 380 horsepower and 455Nm of torque. Combined with the 8-speed automatic transmission, the new LS speeds from 0-to-100 Kmph in less than 6.3 seconds! The 8-speed Automatic Transmission is all set to soon become an industry standard.

Its revolutionary Lexus Relaxation System integrates the luxury of Ottoman seats, which provides extended leg rests, like luxury passenger airline seats, in combination with four-zone rear air-conditioning that senses passenger body temperature, rear seat electronic massager and more. Finally, a rear-seat DVD system with power-opening 9-inch screen add to the feeling of abundant luxury.
